“The Enron non-extradition fiasco”
judge

Interesting to note various politicians, the judiciary and the Right Wing Press running about like blue-arsed flies over the past couple of days, frantically twisting and turning and trying to find a legal loophole which will let them block the extradition to America of the three men involved in the Enron scandal. This feverish activity has been in stark contrast to the deafening silence from the same quarters, regarding the other 'Extradition to America' case that’s been in the news over the past couple of weeks. That of Gary McKinnon, the guy who hacked into The Pentagon’s computer systems, looking for evidence of the existence of UFOs. He apparently faces seventy years in a US jail for his 'crimes', if extradited.

The only difference I can see between the two cases is that Gary McKinnon is a run-of-the-mill geeky computer nerd with an over-active imagination, whereas the three Enron extraditees are millionaire former NatWest Bank managers with influential friends. But since we live in a democracy where everyone is treated equally under the law, that can hardly have anything to do with it - can it?
